(Ad- PR Visit)
This is a role play and sensory room centre located in the town centre aimed at under 7s.
I visited with my 6 year old and 3 month old and my sister and her partner came with their 3 year old and 10 month old.
š ARRIVAL š
On arriving we were welcomed by friendly staff with a smile and were checked in as we were on a pre booked session. I noticed at this point that there is a gate to stop children from getting to the entrance door which is great for peace of mind. There is also an area near the reception where you can leave your pushchair but the staff were also happy enough for me to put mine beside the table as it wasnāt too busy.
š©āāļøROLE PLAY š
We sat down at our table and the kids went straight off to play in the role play areas. The tables are set up right next to the role play so you can sit and relax with a cuppa knowing your children are safe and you can keep an eye on them easily.
There are a few different role play sections including building, camping, supermarket, kitchen and a couple more. These are divided but open at the front so you can still see them play. My 3 year old niece loved the role play especially the area with the dollies, she didnāt want to leave. My 6 year old also loved building things with the bricks.
Thereās also a large chalk board on the wall and lots of chalk for kids to enjoy. And for babies (and toddlers) there was a sensory room.
šŖSENSORY ROOM š”
I went in the sensory room with Leo (my 3 month old) whilst Kamron (my 6 year old) played in the role play with his cousins. This room is right next to it though so you can easily go between the two to keep an eye on your kidsš
Itās the first time Iāve took Leo to a sensory room and it wonāt be the last, especially here. The room was so inviting with lots of sensory items, twinkly lights, ball pools, books, baby seats, baby mats, mirrors and lots of other baby/toddler play toys. It is really well thought out and a lovely relaxing haven for the littlest ones. We spent a good while in there and Leo really enjoyed it, especially the fish bubble tank and the mirrors. My 10 month old nephew also loved the ball pool in there too when he joined us later after having lots of fun in the role play.
āļø COFFEE AND SNACK BREAK š°
When we came back out for a coffee break and a snack, the staff were happy for me to bring the baby sit me up chair out of the sensory room for Leo to sit in, I found this really accommodating.
They offer a decent menu for this sort of venue. There were snacks, light bites, breakfast items, a kids pick and mix meal deal as well as hot and cold drink options and daily cakes on the counter. They also had baby food pouches. I tried the biscoff cake and just a simple white coffee (although thereās a decent choice!)These were both lovely and my 6 year old had a kids portion cheese toastie with some Pom bear crisps on the side, he didnāt have any complaints either š¤
šDAIRY/GLUTEN FREE OPTIONSš
If you require dairy or gluten free they can offer gluten free bread and dairy free butter for sandwiches. Thereās also biscuits and crisps available that are gluten/dairy free and jelly instead of yoghurts for the kids meal deals. They are currently looking at getting their cake maker to make some other options too š
šPOPOLO CERAMICO POTTERY PAINTINGš
We also attended for the Halloween pottery paint and play session that was on during our session time. This is provided by Popolo Ceramico. These sessions are bookable to reserve your place and when booking you just pay the role play session price. Then you pay the extra cost for the pottery on arrival depending on what you pick.
We had a pumpkin and a cat to paint. This was great for the kids to do when they wanted to sit down for a bit and the pottery was a good size for them. My 6 year old and my 3 year old niece old both enjoyed painting them for a little bit during and towards the end when having a break from role play. Me and my sister enjoyed helping out with them too! The pottery is left there to be glazed and then we will go back to collect when itās ready.
I think the pottery painting is a great idea for when you have slightly older children with you too who may get bored of role play as it means that they can paint whilst the little ones play.
š¦½ ACCESSIBILITYš¦¼
Wheelchair users can get in the premises as thereās no steps. It may be a bit tight to navigate round reception but when asking about this they advised they have regular wheelchair users who get round it without any difficulty. Double buggies can also fit fine too, there was actual a visitor there with a double buggy on my visit. They do also have the back door with double doors that they can open to let you in too when itās necessary.
There is a seperate baby changing room and a seperate toilet. The toilet and baby changing room arenāt wheelchair friendly due to it being an older building. You can visit the leisure centre toilets just over the square as these are wheelchair accessible. Little Land of Adventures still get many wheelchair users enjoying this venue š
