FEATURE (AD) - Looking for small group swimming lessons and a warm pool for your child......Well Swim Buddies can help!
Swim Buddies are a local swim company in Darlington, County Durham which was founded by Olympian Chris Cook in 2014. They have an experienced team who provide swimming lessons across three Darlington venues for both swimmers and non swimmers from aged 4 and above. Their ultimate aim is to help children develop swimming skills for life. They receive fantastic overall feedback with 98% rating on Facebook and 4.5/5 on Google.
Swim Buddies added extra stage 1 beginner swimming lessons in the hydro pool at Education Village earlier this year which is a great benefit for those looking for a warmer pool. After experiencing lessons at this pool myself with my 4 year old since June I can confirm that this pool and room are lovely, clean and warm as well as the individual male and female changing rooms (perfect for the upcoming winter season too!). Both the room and pool itself are smaller and naturally provide a quieter environment with only one group swimming in here at a time (occasionally an extra child doing 1:1 swimming). Parents can also sit right by the poolside so that their child feels comfortable with their parent even closer for extra support or motivation.
Here's some photos of the Hydrotherapy Pool and the Room:

They currently run various stage lesson times Monday-Thursday evenings in this Hydro pool. After the October half term due to demand they are adding more sessions on Thursday evenings and Saturdays so that there will even be more choice!
They also run lessons at larger pools 7 days a week with various times. These are at 3 venues in Darlington which are Longfield Academy, The Education Village in their main pool and Hummersknott Academy.
Here's some snapshot photos from Leo's lessons over the last few months at Stage 1 in the Hydrotherapy Pool at The Education Village:

As well as this extra benefit of swimming in the hydro pool, here's some of the extra benefits of all their lessons across any of their venues which helps to provide a more relaxed environment for less confident swimmers:
Small class sizes of up to 4-6 swim buddies per teacher. This means they get plenty of time to practice swimming as there aren't loads to take turns. The instructor is alongside supporting and encouraging each child whilst they practice strokes. In upper level classes more of them may swim at the same time or staggered.
In the stage 1 classes in the hydro pool there may be up to 8 swimmers (with two teachers). Whilst waiting they may practice their breathing techniques blowing bubbles or leg kicks at the side of the pool.
In Pool Teaching provided experienced and fully trained swim instructors for extra support and guidance to help the learners relax and feel less nervous
30 minute lessons -not too long so it doesn't get too much that the learners aren't focused, so it stays productive and plenty of practice too due to the small numbers per class.
Interactive games and activities that focus on purposeful swimming to improve techniques and build their confidence. Swim England's Learn to Swim Programme is used as a basis with their own elements added to it to make it unique and a positive fun learning experience.
Larger pools are maintained at a comfortable temperature of 28-30 degrees. And the hydrotherapy pool at The Education Village is heated to a minimum 32 degrees.

HOW TO ENQUIRE
PLEASE NOTE: This isn't a SEND specialised swimming school but could be beneficial to the less confident swimmer who gets overwhelmed easily by larger groups.
As well as running various lesson times for different stages across all of their pools 7 days a week, they also provide 1:1 swimming lessons which may be even more suited to your child.
Lessons do not run in school holidays but payments are spread out over each month and paid monthly. To enquire with Swim Buddies for starting lessons complete their form here
The team will then get in touch to discuss the most suitable option based on the questions answered.
