🤔 What to expect from these sessions;

The sessions start with a unique children’s story read out loud by the session leader, Tracey. You and your little one are given a bag with different music and sensory items to explore during the storytime. Children are free to open the bag and explore at any time, there’s no pressure to join in at the same times!

Storytime is very relaxed and children are free to sit and listen on the mats, stand up and walk around in the middle or go and play in different parts of the room. Whatever they want to do. There is a play area set up with some books and baby and toddler toys to the side of the storytime, so children can go and freely play here too if they prefer.

During storytime there are pauses in the book and music is put on. Tracey will encourage children to get out a certain item and demonstrate different ways to play and move with it with their parents too and along with the music. This is a perfecopportunity where parents can chat to each other too. Tracey makes the effort to be involved and converse with adults as well as children but not in an overwhelming or invasive way.

After storytime, the children are gently encouraged to tidy up the items into their bags, which most seem to love doing and feel really proud of themselves for helping. Again there’s no pressure if your child would rather not be involved in this.

Then once all tidied, various activities are brought out, including messy and water play trays, softplay on the mats and arts and crafts on the table. And the books and baby toddler toys are left out too. The activities can vary each time but will include a variety and along with the theme of the session.

There’s something for your little ones to enjoy whatever they feel like doing that day! Which is great as kids can change their interests very quickly and depending on their mood, so this allow them to explore and try different activities all in one session.

🌞 Why Sunshine Sensory?

Tracey who owns the business and runs the sessions has many years of experience working with children in EYFS and also with SEN too.

With the heuristic approach that Tracey takes with the session, this allows your child to be free and the focus to be with their learning through play and imagination and other other life skills such as socialisation. Tracey provides the tools and resources and gently encourages children in participating by giving them ideas but ultimately lets them explore in their own way.

Tracey is naturally great at making everyone feel relaxed, both children and adults alike and makes the effort to chat to parents as well as the kids and take an interest. If you don’t feel like chatting and are just there for some company and to get out of the house, you will be made to feel comfortable and no pressure to chat either.

These sessions are £10 per child and siblings go half price. To find out more info on what other sessions Sunshine Sensory UK provide or to book onto one of these monthly special sessions go to;
