Cumbie Way, Newton Aycliffe, DL5 6YA
Weâve been to check out the adventure play at The Fish Tank in Newton Aycliffe this morning with Leo and Harvey.
The boys loved it today and we did too!
Weâve been to it before but more for Kamron as Leo was only around 3 months old.
Itâs in a room where no matter where they are you can see them and get to them easily, which is perfect for under 2s that want a bit of independence and are feeling a bit brave! The play frame is big enough to challenge them a little so they donât get bored but small and safe enough at the same time đ
Harvey loved the vacuum ball lift once he got used to the feeling of the suction on his hand. Getting very excited watching it go round into the ball pit.
Leoâs favourite was climbing up the steps and down the slide, now heâs really mastered his climbing and sliding down on his tummy!
Both of them were both able to get around all of independently which is great not many play frames for climbing and going down slides etc where under 2s can manage safely on their own.
The interactive wall is fun too, me, my sister and mum had a bit of fun having a go at a couple of the games, whilst the boys were trying to copy throwing the balls too! This wall would be good fun if you want to take older kids in :) Kamron enjoyed this last year when we went.
This play area felt relaxed and I didnât come out feeling like I needed a lie down like a lot of soft plays đ (hence why I usually pick role play cafes instead!) The boys had burnt off a lot of energy and had a good nap after too so bonus! đ´
We also had a hot drink and toast and the boys had some raisins and banana purchased from the cafe there. The food and drinks prices were pretty standard for this sort of venue. Iâve included a photo of the menu.
The prices for the adventure play are slightly on the higher side (ÂŁ7.95 per child and 1 adult), however after our visit I did feel it was worth it for the 2 hours you get in there especially with benefit of the toddlers being able to access everything and it including more challenging equipment like stairs/slide etc making it more like soft play than role play but without the help needed. Of course we still did interact and join in with them at times! They limit numbers and it must be prebooked so this prevents it getting too busy too. It was nice to have a chill and catch up too in a less noisy environment whilst keeping an eye on them easily đ¤
For us personally it would still probably just be an occasional visit for due to cost but I still think the price is justified with the quality of the play equipment offered and the clean relaxed environment.
They also have a sensory room which we havenât visited but this was built at the same time (pretty new in the last few years) and looks lovely for babies. As well as a cafe with a play corner free to visit when sitting and purchasing from the cafe. And they have a lovely heating swimming pool too with family friendly changing facilities particularly for babies and toddlers.
