đTown Park, Newton Aycliffeđ
đOpposite Tesco Extra , DL54NW
Another outdoor park definitely worth a visit if you have a mixture of ages and interests! This post was written from our visit in September 2023.
âŚď¸Thereâs a seperate toddlers play area with baby swings, slide and a sand pit which Leo loves đ
âŚď¸The larger play area has play frames, climbing frames, roundabout and swings, itâs a decent size, Kamron always has fun here and even my stepson, Damon who is 14 enjoyed it last week.
âŚď¸Thereâs also a skateboard park, multi games court and football goal posts on the grass too.
đť And there are toilet facilities in the park too just a few minutes up the path from the play area next to the skateboard park including baby changing and a wheelchair accessible toilet.
I like this park as itâs perfect for both of my kids ages, the cousins and my stepson too and without being too spread out either and the convenience of toilets and baby changing nearby.
FOOD OPTIONS
You could easily take a picnic to have on the grass or sit in a bench in one of the parks and spend a good few hours there with the kids scooters, skateboards, bikes, a football or just even just a good play around in the park! Or You could even pop over to Tesco cafe if you wanted to sit indoors for a bit afterwards for a cuppa or bite to eat. Or itâs also short walk (approx 10 minutes) from the town centre with a few shops and cafes if you prefer to support smaller local businesses and to have a browse.
TRANSPORT AND PARKING
đTransport from Darlington-The number 5 towards Durham and number 8 towards Spennymoor from Tubwell Row both take you to Tesco Extra and itâs a few minutes walk from there.
đ Tesco car park is for Tesco customers only so be careful using this unless you are going mainly for Tesco, it also has a maximum stay period. There are some residential streets nearby at the end of the park furthest away from Tesco or on the street between the park and Tesco but spaces are limited. You may prefer to park in one of the town centre car parks near Aycliffe Leisure Centre as these are free (on Greenwell Road, DL1 4DS). The walk will be approximately 10-15 minutes.
I donât have many of my own photos so Iâve included some off the council website Great Aycliffe Town Council too (image credit below each one)
