Teessaurus Park, Middlesbrough

Updated: May 3

We visited from Darlington and I just put Teessaurus Park into my phone satnav and it was easy enough to get here. You can also use the postcode TS2 1QE which will take you to the small car park at the front.

When we arrived and got parked up we took a walk round. There are dinosaur sculptures dotted around the park with some fact boards next to them telling you about the dinosaurs. Most of them are accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs following a flat gravelled path round, except from a couple of the dinosaurs which are on a hill.

There are also three different interactive trails you can take part in with the option of a riverside walk or you could do the story trail which includes some selfie frames and 3D dinosaurs. You need to download an app for these interactive trails. There’s a QR code to scan on the dinosaur information boards.

There was also a small play area with a slide, roundabout, zipline and a small interactive play feature. There’s also plenty of grass next to this for the kids to have a run around and you could even take a picnic. There were some stone seating blocks in places too.

You can also go for a walk along the river which is just at the back of this park. We had a little walk along maybe 5 minutes just to check it out, the paths are gravel/stoney which were ok for us with the pushchairs but may not be suitable for some to walk on as can feel a bit unsteady. There are various walking routes you could follow. One of them is the Ironmaster trail which is a circular route which passes Newport bridge and the Maze Park National Park and has lots of information on the iron and steel industry on the way, so this might be a nice one to do if you have a few hours. More info on this route can be found here on the Tees Barrage International White Water Course website https://tbiwwc.com/teesaurus-park-route/

And to finish off your visit you could even visit Tasty Tarts for a sweet treat, located just over the road from the car park. We didn’t visit today as didn’t have enough time but also they weren’t open. Check their opening hours on their page before you visit as currently they are showing open Thursday-Saturday only. Here is their Facebook page link https://www.facebook.com/tastytarts

We spent around an hour and a half here but if you went for a walk or took a picnic to enjoy you could spend a bit more time here.

The small car park at the front of the park also has a few disabled spaces. The car park wasn’t busy and we found a spot easily enough.

Thanks for reading, I hope you found this helpful. Please feel free to share and leave me a comment :)
